Bug Description

Binary package hint: kpdf

Hi,

I have a visualization problem with KPDF (both under kubuntu 7.04 and kubuntu 7.10) when producing presentation in latex with the package prosper.

The document is cut on the right (I attach a printscreen). This happens also in full screen. It happens both with pdf created in WinXP and Linux and the documents are correctly seen under WinXp Acrobat Reader).

Somewhere I read that this problem is common to all A4 landscape pdf documents (that what prosper produces) but I'm not able to find this post anymore.

Is it a bug?

Thanks,
g.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release - Hardy Heron. It would help us greatly if you could test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the next release of Ubuntu. You can find out more about the development release at [WWW] http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/ . Thanks again and we appreciate your help.

Someone please post an example PDF or try whether this issue still appears in KDE 4.1's Okular, thank you.

here is the pdf and a snapshot of the lower right corner as seen with KPDF in presentation mode. as written, the problem arises in all the visualizations.

thanks,

This is not a KPDF bug, and not an Okular either, but Poppler's.

KPDF is patched by ubuntu for using the Poppler library (thus totally unsupported by us), and Okular uses Poppler directly.

Thanks for your reply.

It seems that this means that the problem can not be fixed.

KPDF does not use poppler, Ubuntu patched KPDF to use poppler, so it's a problem that Ubuntu should solve, as this problem does not happen at all on real KPDF.

The problem also happens in evince, that's why i filed this in poppler rather than in KPDF.

Gianluca, Pino didn' say that, what he is saying is that the problem remains on the library not in the application that's why it was reassigned to poppler, and yes the problem can be fix. I'll forward this upstream since i can reproduce the problem also with Intrepid, thanks in advance.

this bug still is present with okular and the following:

Kubuntu 9.04 64bit KDE 4.1.4
Dell Precision M2400 Intel Dual Core 2
Nvidia Quadro FX 370M (Driver Nvidia 180.11)
HDA Intel (STAC92xx Analog)

when using pdf presentation made with latex (class prosper) that is an A4 in landscape

best,
gianluca
