power error under ubuntu core when running console-conf

Bug Description

when manually running console conf on a pi3 ubuntu core image the following is printed in syslog and dmesg. after this the wlan0 device is gone.

On Ubuntu Classic i can't get the brcmfmac driver to behave the same: exactly, what are the steps necessary to reproduce it? Which command do i need to execute?

i only saw it once actually ... lets put this bug to incomplete so it auto-expires, i'll raise my voice in case it shows up again ...
