Binary package hint: koffice-libs

# koconverter failed to convert one excell document to txt

$ koconverter file.xls file.txt
koffice (filter manager): ERROR: Couldn't create a valid filter chain to text/plain !
koconverter: ERROR: *** ¡Ha fallado la conversión! ***

# Software context
$ koconverter -v
Qt: 3.3.7
KDE: 3.5.8
KOConverter: 1.4
$ uname -a
Linux myGutsy 2.6.22-14-generic #1 SMP Sun Oct 14 23:05:12 GMT 2007 i686 GNU/Linux

# Tried with kspread and converted it ok (?!?)
$ kspread -v
Qt: 3.3.7
KDE: 3.5.8
KSpread: 1.6.3

# Reported in KDE as http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=152418
# koconverter 1.4 is too old for them !?!

Is this still a problem with a more recent version of Kubuntu (or with KOffice2?) Does this happen for all spreadsheets, or just one in particular. If it's just one, could you please attach it to this bug report if it's nothing sensitive? Thanks.

Kubuntu latest & upgraded:

$ koconverter -v
Qt: 3.3.8b
KDE: 3.5.10
KOConverter: 1.4

Same version, same bug. This happen for all spreadsheets i have tried.

It failed again
I tried creating with open office a simple xls containing "1" in A1

$ $ koconverter file.xls file.txt
# It throwed a similar error, in spanish, but in a message box

$ koconverter -v
Qt: 4.5.2
KDE: 4.3.2 (KDE 4.3.2)
KOConverter: 2.0.2

# Tried with kspread and converted it ok (Again)
$ kspread -v
Qt: 4.5.2
KDE: 4.3.2 (KDE 4.3.2)
KSpread: 2.0.2

$ lsb_release -a
No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu 9.10
Release: 9.10
Codename: karmic

$ uname -a
