After running sudo apt upgrade or sudo apt dist-upgrade, it produces the following :

there is no script in the new version of the package - giving up

I am using

Expected to install the package.
It fails to install and also the other packages will fail to install. This error occurred when release upgrade was happening from 16.04 to 16.10 and the problem continues to exist.
