Apparently this is a severe bug, debian official has fixed this by releasing a new version 4.4.6+dfsg-2:

So raspbian maintainers, please update raspbian repo

Looks like we tried to build the new version from Debian but the build hung. I'll schedule a retry.

@peter, just confirm that samba 4.4.6+dfsg-2 packages don't crash anymore and my samba server is up and running.
