Kernel 4.8.0-25-generic does boot if intel-microcode is installed

Bug Description

If I install the intel-microcode package, the kernel will no longer boot. The kernels from 4.4 series di not have this issue.

It is not an issue in intel-microcode, but rather a kernel defect. It has to be fixed by an updated kernel (and likely it has already been fixed)...

Closing this as it appears to have been fixed in newer versions of the 4.8 kernel.
