Bug Description

On 17.3 both Epson DX3800 and KodakVerite 55 scanners worked. On 18 neither Simple Scan nor Xsane can see either - "No scanners detected", "no devices available".

As a point of interest Using a netbook with Windows 10 Windows Fax and Scan drives the Kodak OK, apparently without drivers being installed.

Same Problem with Brother DCP-585CW printer via network.
brother scannerdrivers installed and registered, but xsane reports "No scanners detected".
Checked procedure under 17.3 - is working.
Checked again with plain 18 (without updates) - not working.
after updates Kernel 4.4 ( done on 16.10.2017) - also not working.
