Mouse cursor vanishes on resuming an automatically locked screen

After I work for a while, I leave my laptop (Lenovo L520) idle and go away. When I am back, the screen gets locked. I can still see the mouse cursor. Once I key in the password, I can't see the cursor. It does not happen neither on a fresh boot up login, nor on resuming from sleep.

It only happens, after resuming a automatic screen lock.

But when the invisible cursor hovers over the dock, one can know where it is. Also in some applications it highlights some buttons showing its presence on that place. But remains invisible.

I have tried a workaround is, using Alt+F4 I close all the windows, take the invisible cursor to the top right corner to somehow find the power button and try to logout. Once logged out, with the login again the cursor becomes visible.

But it's really irritating.

I tried to lock it manually without a automatic locking. Still the same problem is found.

I also have been having the same issue.
For me it is whenever I lock my screen. Automatically or via hotkey.
I am running on a Sony Vaio laptop SVP series.

While logging out and back in will make the cursor reappear I have been using a different work around.
I've added the following line to my .bashrc:
alias cursor_fix="gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.cursor active false && gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.cursor active true"

The toggle from false to true will bring the cursor back.
When coming back from a screen lock (machine is frequently locked) I can pull up a terminal via hotkey and run the command.

Hope this gets resolved soon.
