Bug Description

I have Qemu and kvm installed, and when I try to boot a virtual Gutsy i386 (live disc) in Qemu on my host OS (also Gutsy i386), the virtual Gutsy crashes to BusyBox.

If you need more info, please let me know.

Please try if the instruction given at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-source-2.6.22/+bug/120316/comments/6 will allow gutsy to boot in qemu. Type the modprobe and exit commands mentioned at the busybox/initramfs prompt.

I did that, and it did continue to load for a while, but then somewhere in the process, the display server crashes 6 times in 1,5 minutes or so.
After those crashes it tries to restart the display server, which crashes again etc etc.

The crash I mentioned in my previous post only occurs when I use the "standard VGA card with Boch extentions" as video card.
I've switched to the "Cirrus Logic GD 5546 PCI VGA Card" and now Gutsy boots just fine.

Thank you for your quick response. Based on those results, this bug is a duplicate of bug #120316.

Regarding the vga issue: if you consider it a bug, please file a separate report for it.
