I'm also facing the same issue. Top menu applet display menu bar properly on the panel, however on clicking any menu item, it crashes the application itself. I'm using Ubuntu-mate-16.10.

no longer affects: ubuntu-mate

I also see this problem in Ubuntu Mate 17.04. It displays the menu bar but after clicking on it the application crashes. I have downloaded the latest .deb files and installed them but the problem still exist.

I don't have tried this application, I just came across this bug, but I guess this is due to structure change written in ./module/gtk3privates.h (yes, this is originally "private" header in gtk3, so the structures may change in gtk3).

For example, with gtk+ 3.20, struct _GtkMenuPrivate has more members than what is written in ./module/gtk3privates.h in topmenu-gtk.

I just tested it and it didn't crash any applications. But still, the global menu is only available for Mutiny and Window titles are still not merged to the top panel. Ubuntu version 16.04
