Bug Description

Hi.

While using Windows 10 with VirtualBox 5.1 with Ubuntu 12.04 x64, I can set it up without any problems by creating a standard virtual machine and pointing it to the 12.04 iso.
However If I do the same with a Ubuntu iso 16.04 x64 iso, it fails because the display shows abnormal pixels.

I've tweaked some Virtualbox settings and by enabling EFI, I can complete the install but I cant reboot it because it gets stuck while displaying the EFI shell (I think).

There are other people facing this problem as seen at:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/541006/ubuntu-14-10-does-not-install-in-virtualbox
https://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/13615

In case any information is required please ask.

Thanks.

The EFI problem is with virtualbox; just don't use EFI mode. The graphical problem is with one of the video cards it emulates. Try changing the emulated video setting. I think it was cirrus that had this problem.

Get this issue on Ubuntu 12.04.5 amd64 host using VirtualBox 5.1 with Ubuntu 16.04.1 x86 guest.
The screen shows rainbow of pixels, not the desktop. Turning off 3D acceleration does not solve the problem.
Pressing right Ctrl+F1, then Ctrl+F7 solved the problem.

Dear Ubuntu developers, please fix this problem or contact VirtualBox developers. VirtualBox-way is the easiest to get first impression of Ubuntu. So it is expected that Ubuntu will work on VirtualBox without special actions.
