unity top panel calendar freeze

Bug Description
When calendar in the unity top panel is open by clicking on time and date, the calendar pops down but it freezes for atleast 30 seconds. Mouse and keyboard are disabled. after a while the calendar draws up and everything is normal.
using ubuntu 16.04 on a dell latitude 5250.
