Bug Description

More notification settings landed in OTA-13 however the Messages app was left out.
There should be way to configure notifications for SMS/messages as well.

That is a fair point - SMS has specific settings in the settings app itself but this could be more consistent now.

@Pat - sorry, where do you see that SMS notifications
can be configured in the messages-app ?
(I cannot find the parameter in my phone krillin E4.5
in the Settings where there is only "Enable MMS group chat" !)

I was referring to the controls for vibration under sounds in system settings, but the model is quite inconsistent with the other notifications as you point out. There is no way to turn on/ff the bubbles or disable sound entirely outside of silent mode.

I don’t see why this is a design bug. Is there anything in the Notification settings design that would lead anyone to think that the list of apps should *not* include Messages? <https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Notification>

The only thing I can think of is that in the design for the “Sound” settings, the “Message received” list <https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Sound#line-129> is supposed to — but doesn’t currently — include a “None” option. Once implemented, that would be an alternative way of turning off message sounds, but not message bubbles. It would be weird if engineers had both omitted to implement the “None” option, AND deliberately excluded Messages from the Notification settings entirely on the grounds that the “None” option would duplicate part of it if it existed.
