gnome-session does not show version info

Bug Description

Following command has no output.
$ gnome-session --version
However, help says,
$ gnome-session --help
Usage:
  gnome-session-binary [OPTION...] - the GNOME session manager

Help Options:
  -h, --help Show help options

Application Options:
  -a, --autostart=AUTOSTART_DIR Override standard autostart directories
  --session=SESSION_NAME Session to use
  --debug Enable debugging code
  -f, --failsafe Do not load user-specified applications
  --version Version of this application
  --whale Show the fail whale dialog for testing
  --disable-acceleration-check Disable hardware acceleration check

Also, in man, there in no entry for gnome-session.

I do have a man page, but the --version does not exist.

Hi Bruce,
You are right. My mistake.
It does have a man page. What I meant was, no entry for "--version" in man page.

Ubuntu 16.10 (yakkety) reached end-of-life on July 20, 2017.

See this document for currently supported Ubuntu releases:

We appreciate that this bug may be old and you might not be interested in discussing it any more. But if you are then please upgrade to the latest Ubuntu version and re-test. If you then find the bug is still present in the newer Ubuntu version, please add a comment here telling us which new version it is in and change the bug status to Confirmed.
