passing exc= to a mock is not documented

Bug Description

In trying to refer someone to documentation about passing exc= to trigger an exception when you hit a mock there doesn't appear to be any.

    Add documentation for the exception response

    There was no documentation on how to use the exc= parameter. Add some
    simple docs so people at least know that it's there.
