Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox

When I plug in the headphones, the speakers won't go mute.

Going to Volume Control, switches tab, and toggling the "headphone" makes no difference on this behavior.

another person reported this same problem on the forums, saying it was a gusty regression : http://ubuntuforums.org/newreply.php?do=newreply&noquote=1&p=3746827

some interesting facts :

1. When I turn off the "headphone" option, the headphone is always muted
2. When I "mute" the front, the sound goes off the speakers, but continues on the headphones
3. Even when the "front" is muted, moving the sliders alter the volume of the headphone.

looks like the only missing piece is to detect when the headphone is inserted and mute the front when that happens.

Hi there, this looks like it might be a duplicate of bug #109838 - please can you look at that bug and see if it's the same issue.
Thanks

Yeah, it looks pretty much like the same issue. I'm going to mark as duplicate, thanks.
