I *think* it is related to USB, but am not at all sure about this and cannot directly match it to anything direclty. Actually USB seems to be working for me, I just see these massive logs. On time of repoting this, I have the following USB devices attached:

It seems this situation occures with VirtualBox running on the machines.

Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem?

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v4.8 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

Dear Joseph,

thank you for your feedback. I have been looking to the upstream kernels, but I'm a bit unsure which to install, I would choose:

 linux-headers-4.8.0-040800rc8_4.8.0-040800rc8.201609252231_all.deb
and
 linux-image-4.8.0-040800rc8-generic_4.8.0-040800rc8.201609252231_amd64.deb

would you agree? Right now I have:

Linux workstation 4.4.0-38-generic #57-Ubuntu SMP Tue Sep 6 15:42:33 UTC 2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux.

Do I need to consider anything in regards to my encrypted disc?

Thank you and best regards Boris

Another question. On the Wiki page for the MainlineBuilds under Preparing to install an upstream kernel I read that I should uninstall modules for virtualbox. But in my view virtualbox is involved in the messages, so how can I test the kernel with vitualbox running if I don't have the modules installed? can I re-install virtualbox after I have booted the upstream kernel again?
