Bug Description

It's good idea to show SN1054, supernova who gave birth to Crab Nebula, but when You go to year 1053, I mean before supernova explosion, the Crab Nubula did NOT exist, so You musn't see it in Stellarium!
But You see it! It is an anomaly!

Sure. SN display is a plugin, the nebulae are core features. Somebody will have to redesign the nebula code to allow definition of a system of temporally changing nebula images, and optimally find a series of images of the growing Crab nebula say in 1060, 1100, 1200, ... 2000. All this for a single object?

Us known the birthdays for some SNR and I can implement a feature for showing/hiding nebulae as function of time. Rendering the evolution of those nebulae can be problematic.

A fix has been committed as revision 8685 of the trunk branch in Stellarium's Bazaar repository at Launchpad:
http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~stellarium/stellarium/trunk/revision/8685

I've introduced a new option in nebulae/default/textures.json file - birthJD - to set JD of the birth of SNR (JD of max. brightness of SN).
