Screen flickers when using external monitor

Continued from Bug 1572667

Occasionally my external monitor will go black for a second and then return. Currently I am running the mainline kernel version 4.6.7-040607 and the problem does not appear.

Also this only happens when using my external dock not with the display port on the laptop.

could you bisect it using the mainline builds? It's probably either 4.5-rc1 or 4.6-rc1 that fixed it.. but would be good to know
