Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem?

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v4.8 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

Thanks for your help!
My laptop was preinstalled with Ubuntu 12.04 and it hasn't such problems. 16.04 has. I tested 4.8 kernel maybe a month ago and it was the same problem. Please let me wait until 4.9 and test it.

With 4.8 my laptop just hangs without any messages in syslog, Xorg.log or kern.log. It can be SW or HW issue. Any advice will be really appreciated

To see if it is HW related, can you test 4.9-rc1 and upstream 4.4 stable:

I asked another owner of Dell XPS 13 933 an he hasn't such a problem. And I updated my XPS13 to 9360 few days ago so it'll be not so easy to test on 9333. Can you please close this ticket (I guess it's HW related issue)?
