Bug Description

Binary package hint: simple-scan

Scanner model: HP ScanJet 3670
Ubuntu-release: 16.04 LTS

Relevant packages and versions:

libsane 1.0.25+git20150528-1ubuntu2
simple-scan 3.20.0-0ubuntu1
xsane 0.999-3ubuntu1

When I use Simple Scan with "scan as photo" option at higher resolutions, the scanning process is very slow: on 600 dpi, it takes 5-6 minutes; on 1200 dpi it would take about an hour to scan a page (to be honest, I cancelled the process about halfway).

In contrast, if I use xsane with "factory settings" + 1200 dpi, the whole process takes about 6 minutes.

This has been an issue since Lucid.

To see if this is already resolved, could you please test for this via http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ and advise to the results?

Please try the HPLIP driver. It should be resolved with this driver.
