i40e-dkms is not used after kernel update

Problem:
After installing new kernel your system started to use stock driver, that is shipped with kernel. Compare before:
modinfo i40e
filename: /lib/modules/
version: 1.3.47
apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade
and after kernel update:
modinfo i40e
filename: /lib/modules/
version: 0.3.36-k
That file comes from this package: linux-image-
Looks like custom package with latest dkms driver was built due to instability of stock driver:
https:/
Ask:
add
AUTOINSTALL=yes
to
/usr/src/
and then install new kernel as usual. Kernel installation will trigger rebuilding of i40e dkms module, and you will not have to run dpkg-reconfigure
