After clicking "Get Ubuntu Add-Ons" in the Add-Ons dialogue in firefox, I installed the adblock extension using the Ubuntu Install/Remove extensions program (mozilla-
But I didn't like it, so I tried to uninstall it from within Install/Remove extensions. However, upon restarting firefox, the extension was still listed in the Add-Ons dialogue of firefox, and it was active (although, I could deactivate it by choosing disable). But the adblock extension entry was then totally MISSING from the Ubuntu Install/Remove extensions program's list. This was an impasse.
I then went to synaptic package manager, searched, and found that the adblock extension was still marked as installed. So I unchecked it and it uninstalled properly, and the Ad-Block entry in the Add-Ons dialogue was gone, and the Ad-Block entry in the Ubuntu Install/Remove extensions became visible again. So everything went back to normal.
I shouldn't have had to go through the extra step of using the synaptic package manager. The Ubuntu Install/Remove extensions program did not work correctly.
there is a similar business with the mozilla- livehttpheaders extension.
I installed it, it is now visible as installed in synaptic, but the Ubuntu Install/Remove extensions dialogue has no entry for it and the web browser actually doesn't seem to function as if it were installed, since there is no menu entries for it.
