mmm well virtualbox is not updated daily, so I presume the crash is due to some other libraries installed that requires you to restart it to properly work.
(maybe some gdm/gnome updates are messing up with application)

I think the "daily" updates are from Kernel Updates and Virtualbox DKMS.
