Joseph Salisbury (jsalisbury) wrote : Re: ubuntu 16.04 bluetooth can't work

Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem?

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v4.8 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

crystal, could you please provide the full computer manufacturer and model as noted on the sticker of the computer itself (not from the Bug Description, or the result of a terminal command)?

I am also affected on both 4.4.0 and the newest 4.8.0rc6. My laptop is a Acer R3-471T-53LA with Qualcomm Atheros QCA9565 / AR9565 Wifi/bluetooth combo chip. The adapter works for Wifi, but is not detected as a Bluetooth device.

Dylan, it will help immensely if you filed a new report with the Ubuntu repository kernel (not mainline/upstream) via a terminal:
ubuntu-bug linux

Please feel free to subscribe me to it.
