Bug Description

I've just installed elementary OS Beta 2 on Virtualbox. Trying to open emacs (24.5.1) crashes when it opens a windows. Running it with -nw option (within a terminal) runs ok

Looks like you are right and it is the same bug. Output error in a terminal
is different:

X protocol error: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes) on protocol
request 139
When compiled with GTK, Emacs cannot recover from X disconnects.
This is a GTK bug: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=85715
