there is one sometimes two empty status indicator on wingpanel that clickable and show menu (also empty - can't take the screen-shot)
the position is after (left of) standart status/indicator (sound's indicator)

After the sound indicator it loads the Ayatana indicators, it's indicators using the old API. Do you remember which apps did you install that show indicators?
