Instead of following the tweaks explained above, a ready to use nvidia-367 driver works very well on my yakkety 64 bits installation with 4.6 & 4.7 kernels.

So the easiest way for nvidia users is to use that 'mamarley' ppa (thanks for his job)
Maybe it could be pushed into the yakkety archive.
