Thank you for reporting this bug. Can you please try it with a newer version of thunderbird? I cannot reproduce the bug with my version of thunderbird.

Can you please try to set default browser and default email client in the perferred apps menu in system and see if you can reproduce this. This should fix the issue in Ubuntu and it might not fix it in Kubuntu but please try so we know where we stand on this bug.

Set default browser and email client in preferences as requested. Could
not duplicate bug in either Ubuntu 7:10 or Kubuntu 7:10.
Used Firefox (2.0.0.12 Ubuntu, 2.0.0.13 Kubuntu) and Thunderbird
(2.0.0.12 both systems) as preferred apps.

Hope this helps,

GaryG

The problems occured at one point in 8.04-pre. I did netver change any preferences in thunderbird. Which of that many parameters is the one to set the default browser?

Inx,
Is this still a problem on your system after setting defaults? Setting defaults in perferred apps or in update-alternatives should do the same thing, just less confusing, less choices in perferred apps menu. If this is still a problem please reopen the bug report and let us know what *-desktop package it is a problem on and if its just with Thunderbird and Firefox.

Thanks,
I've seen the menu item preferred apps now for the first time. Probably during a system update somethine must have been changed there.
Problem solved.
Thanks again.
