Computer froze mid-update to 16.04 and this package has been causing issues ever since.

You may need to run the following from a terminal:

sudo apt-get install -f
sudo apt-get clean
sudo apt-get update

Then re-install the package or updates.

If that does not resolve your issue, please mark the bug as "Confirmed"

As requested by Joseph Salisbury, ran apt-get install -f, apt-get clean, then apt-get update. Running install -f kicked back the below error code, which re-occurred after running through the full list of requested commands and checking install -f again.
