Bug Description

On regular Linux distros there is no need for an account in order to update the OS or to download applications. Clearly, this has changed with Ubuntu Touch / Ubuntu for devices, although there is no technical reason to do so, an Ubuntu One account is mandatory now. My conclusion: this must be a bug (or even worse an anti-feature).

Clearly, I am not the only one concerned about this, for example see discussion: https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2265106
