Bug Description

Hi,

I've just tried to install Ubuntu with the following partition setup:
/boot XFS 128M
swap swap 512M
/ XFS 10G

grub-install goes fine. No error are reported.

But when I reboot my machine I see GRUB loading stage 1.5 and after that I get
Error 17.

http://www.gnu.org/software/grub/manual/html_node/Stage2-errors.html

17 : Cannot mount selected partition : This error is returned if the partition
requested exists, but the filesystem type cannot be recognized by GRUB.

Anyway It's shame XFS isn't usable for all filesystems.

Why should this be disallowed?

GRUB + /boot on XFS should be possible!

I've done it before on plain debian.

It's probably just a bug in GRUB.

We already default to LILO when /boot is on XFS. The rest is a duplicate of #1301.
