Bug Description

Last weekend I downloaded Stellarium 0.14.3 for my MacBook Pro Retina running the latest OS X.

One thing I noticed immediately is that the Night Mode is not working ie. when you activate it, the MacBook taskbar, Stellarium controls and text turn red - but the sky and landscape (ie. the whole Stellarium image) completely disappears(!)

This happens also when I run Stellarium through my projectors (I've tried this on two MacBooks and two different projectors) ie. the image completely disappears in Night Mode.

Night Mode is useful inside a planetarium because it reduces unnecessary light from the peripherals.

I haven't tried it yet, as I now have ver 0.14.3 all correctly formatted for my planetarium domes. Over the next few weeks I'll check in the dome and if the taskbar is too bright, I will try the upgrade. If it's not too bright, I will leave it, because 0.14.3 is working well right now.

Thanks for the on-going support.

You could install V0.15 in parallel, right? None of the active developers has a real modern Mac to test anything! The emulator VMs may be incomplete.
And BTW, 0.15 comes with a new interface for people who dislike to show gui panels on their domes!

Hello - today I installed v0.15 and it is FANTASTIC. Congratulations to the development team!

Unfortunately though, Night Mode is still not working on my high-end MacBook Pro running the latest OS X.

PS - I LOVE the new web interface, which is GREAT for planetarium teaching, thank you.

Yet I was hoping the top of the main (horizontal) toolbar could be made to disappear so it doesn't project on the dome (ie. the place, date, time, fps).

Is it possible to hide it somehow?

Yes, press Ctrl+T.

Please attach screenshot of Stellarium in night mode.

Mario Di Maggio (domeclub) wrote :

Awesome, thank you for Ctrl+T !

There's nothing to show you / attach when in Night Mode, because the entire screen goes black (and the main horizontal toolbar remains white).

I forgot to mention, PLEASE NOTE: everything I have said / posted since joining the forum describes Stellarium on a MacBook Pro Retina but ** projected through an HD projector in spherical mirror mode **.

Since ver. 0.14 I have NEVER managed to get Stellarium to fill the screen of my MacBook in spherical mirror mode - it only projects in the lower left quarter of the screen (see attached image).

So for me currently Stellarium in spherical mirror mode only works correctly via a projector.

Thanks

Important note: enabling night mode in spherical mirror distortion mode caused black window. Seems like we have troubles in one of shaders - for night mode or spherical distortion.

I've been meaning to ask: Control + T makes the main (horizontal) toolbar appear / disappear

Yet is there a way of permanently disabling it in the config file?

Thanks
