Bug Description

Binary package hint: koffice

Some KDE applications just do not work well with scim. What I have found thus far are KWord and Kopete.

In case of KWord, say, I enter the word 図書館 (toshokan, library) twice, like this:
図書館図書館

Then, I press the undo button until there are no undos left (two times).

Then, press the redo button the same times. What I get, is

Kate, for example, is working correctly.

Also, sometimes the word I approved in scim by pressing Enter just disappears, and is not written to the document.

In case of Kopete, I can usually enter a sentence without problems, provided I do not delete characters. However, after that, whatever I type becomes like to text above: kかtたnな (kKAtTAnNA, parts written with capital letter are kanas). I have to dismiss and make the scim window reappear before I can continue to type normally.

The error persists regardless of event flow setting (dynamic false or true). I have tried to use the scim-bridge im-module, but it did not solve the problem either.

This is a big showstopper for me. Please do something about it.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release - Karmic Koala. It would help us greatly if you could test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the next release of Ubuntu. You can find out more about the development release at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/. Thanks again and we appreciate your help.
