Bug Description
My Toshiba Tecra W50A runs a dual boot Windows 10 / Linux Mint 18. This problem also existed when I dual-booted Windows 8.1 / Linux Mint 17.3.
Upon every boot, the grub menu is unresponsive for a few seconds before allowing input. That is, when the grub menu is displayed, pressing keys doesn't do anything until a few seconds later. This happens reliably on every boot.
1) System info: Linux Mint 18
$ uname -a
Linux clem-w50-mint 4.4.0-21-generic #37-Ubuntu SMP Mon Apr 18 18:33:37 UTC 2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
2) To reproduce: Boot the computer
3) What happened: Grub menu is shown, but pressing keyboard keys doesn't do anything until a few seconds later.
4) What you expected to happen instead: Keys should be immediately responsive after grub menu is shown.
5) Problem always happens.
What extra information can I provide? Here's my /etc/default/grub (it was not edited):
$ cat /etc/default/grub
# If you change this file, run 'update-grub' afterwards to update
# /boot/grub/
# For full documentation of the options in this file, see:

I am experiencing the exact same behavior, with dual boot windows 10 and ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS (installed from xubuntu image).
