Bug Description

Linux Mint 18 Cinnamon.
The system is a fresh install of Mint 18 with a pre-existing Mint 17 /home partition (ie the /boot and / partitions were formatted).

Trying to install Google Chrome via .deb downloaded from official Chrome website, I open the saved file in GDebi and the Status says that Chrome 'Requires the installation of 1 packages'. When I click the Details button, the Details window opens saying 'To install the following changes are required:', followed by what looks like a standard HTML <hr> tag overlaid with a dotted line.

I expected the required packages to be displayed in the Details window.

Installing Chrome from the command-line via dpkg -i succeeds but provides the extra vital information that libcurl3 is not installed and is required for Chrome to work.

To reproduce this, try installing Chrome on a system without libcurl3 already installed.
