in workspace switcher cannot move windows between workspaces

i updated from ubuntu 7.04 to 7.10. now the workspace switcher lacks a feature i often used. i have 5 workspaces and i moved in the workspace switcher applet a window icon from one workspace to an other. now this does not work any more.
