Bug Description
Ubuntu Gutsy, up to date packages, firefox Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-GB; rv:1.8.1.8) Gecko/20071022 Ubuntu/7.10 (gutsy) Firefox/2.0.0.8
When opening a new tab or clicking in the address bar of an empty tab Firefox suddenly spawns several (10-20) new empty tabs. Firefox remains responsive and the empty tabs can be closed one-by-one. I have tried to replicate the behavior by making new tabs and clicking around but I haven't made any progress. This behavior has recurred several times, but I'm still not quite sure about the conditions required to replicate the bug.

Problem was apparent on Gutsy at first. However, I downgraded back to Feisty because of an annoying kernel bug that would prevent suspend to standby from working. And the bug also appears in Feisty now as well. It didn't appear at first, but now it happens quite frequently, opening close to 80 tabs at once.
