Bug Description

THIS HAPPENS IN KONQUEROR AS WELL
.
When I boot the Kubuntu Gutsy release live CD, I cannot access my hard disk partitions.
My partitions are in /media/. But if I click one, no content appears, and I get the following error:
hal-storage-fixed-mount refused uid 999
.
I posted this because I believe a similar bug was erroneously transferred to the dolphin area.

I just experienced the same problem. I cannot access my hard disk with Kubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy Gibbon) downloaded 2 days ago. However, this is possible with Slax 5.1.8.1. How can I mount the hard disk ?

Me too. I downloaded kubuntu 7.10 yesterday and experience exactly the same problem.

Cannot access neither the internal nor the external hard drive!!

Does anybody know whether it is "only" an issue with the live CD or it will persist after installing kubuntu?
Because if so, it would make the whole system useless so instead of wasting my time installing it I would rather look for another distro.

Hello,
kde-hal-device-manager is unmaintained by it's original authors and has been removed from the Ubuntu archives. Therefore it will not be any updates for it, excepting fixes for security issues if they arise.

Thanks for your bug report all the same, and we hope that you continue to report bugs in the future as you find them.
