Bug Description
qemu >=2.2.1 had a bug when converting to VHD format, see https:/
As noted in that bug report, a fix for this issue has been released with QEMU 2.6:

Is it possible to have this fix backported to Xenial (Qemu v2.5) so that LTS users will not encounter this issue?

WOuld be nice to have, however vpc.c seems to have changed quite a bit already and the patch does not apply cleanly. If someone can backport the patch I will put it up for sru testing.
I'm going to mark this bug a duplicate of 1490611 and mark that one as affecting the Ubuntu xenial package.
