Bug Description

I was just doing Netflix and chill, when signon-ui created the attached dialog apparently out of the blue.

What is it asking me to give credentials for, and why?

@iain: have you been able to confirm that it was indeed signon-ui which was displaying that window?

I used xprop on it and it told me that. Sorry for not including the
output in this bug - will do if it happens again.

It's most likely one of the empathy accounts, because IIRC all other account plugins use OAuth, whose re-authentication screen looks very different from this.

It's very strange that this happened: when signon-ui is requested to show a dialog, it shows it only if it's given a X window ID to parent it to; otherwise, no dialog is shown and you'll see an OSD notification instead. Unless it was unable to dispatch the message to the indicator.

Can you please check if "com.canonical.indicators.webcredentials" is an active (or activatable) D-Bus service in your session (you could use d-feet for this)?

Are you able to reproduce it at will? I guess that this should appear at every session start?

I just saw it the one time, not at every session start.

signon-ui-service is installed, and I can DBus activate com.canonical.indicators.webcredentials.

Maybe you can let me know what to do if it happens again?

Please type this command:

   echo "LoggingLevel=2" > ~/.config/signond.conf

so that the next time that the bug happens you should have signond longs in the syslog. Then, please attach here the syslog (making sure that any passwords, emails or tokens are replaced with XXX).
