"applications, places, system" not translated

Bug Description

When I install 7.10, most gnome menu items are localised. Translations reside in .desktop files in /usr/share/applications.

"Applications, Places, System" main menu items in the gnome panel on the other hand are not localised. Translations for these seem to reside in the respective language packs. They are the most visible menu items on the desktop.

Having the translations included would offer _a lot_ of extra comfort to new users who have no connection to the internet when first installing.

Thank you for your bug report. That is a workaround and will not make the system much easier to use since other strings are not translated. Closing the request we will not change this one specifically, you can discuss that on a list to know what other users think about that though

Changed in gnome-panel:
assignee: nobody → desktop-bugs
importance: Undecided → Low
status: New → Invalid
