Bug Description

If the width of the columns is not specified, there should be fall-back to sensible defaults as opposed to LaTeX crying.

Having looked at this for a while, there doesn't seem to be a sensible way to do this (how do we deal with only a single column width being specified, for example).

Even if there were a sensible way, there'd be a great deal of pain involved in doing so (as well as almost certainly more package dependencies, which I'd like to avoid).
