Bug Description

Hello, i noticed that compiz fusion opens, most of the time, all windows in screen corners, i think it should open them at the center of the screen, or just at the last location they werre in. For example, i open firefox and place it at the center of the dislplay, compiz-fusion should remember that the firefox window is supposed to be located at the center of the screen.

It doesn't need to do it by default, but it would help to have an option in the "Place Windows" plugin that allowed to choose this behavior.

Does it now remember the last position and size of the windows on the screen?
For Pidgin, for example, the windows now show up in the same previous place, even after reboot?

No, that is the job of pidgin.

But it works in metacity, are you sure it is something that Pidgin is missing?
I thought this bug was due to compiz not remembering the last location and size of the windows, like metacity does.
Couldn't it be a job for the plugin "Place windows"?

I know for a fact metacity only remembers the location of windows if you save them in the session and we do that too. For everything else it is up to the application to put itself where it was before. You may have been seeing a GDK but that would move the window by the size of the window decoration but that is fixed as well.

Err, a GDK *bug*, that is.
