Bug Description

Core - Apps starting very slow (BQ4.5):

Camera: 9 sec.
Galery: 11sec.
Contacts 6sec.
Messages: 7sec.
system-settings (5sec.)
Browser: 4sec.
Calendar 5sec.
Dekko: 7sec

As you can see a several times in the Internet, the slowness of ubuntutouch has often been documented. Imho it is very important for a smartphone to have a fast reaction. To wait about 4 - 11 seconds (often more) to start an app isn't anything but a good experience!
Hope there will be a solution in the next time - if not , I have to switch back to android , because this is very annoying.

It is a pitty, because UT is a really good operating system and I like it, but it is much too slow.

I can confirm that this affect me as well. Nexux 4 stable latest OTA, MX4 stable latest OTA.
I was hoping that after a year with my Ubuntu phone this would get fixed, but no, still present.
From my experience the lagg is worse on Nexus 4 ( an obsolete hardware ) little bit better on MX4.
Fingers crossed for next OTA :-)

I also have a bq 4.5 but non of these apps takes longer than 3 seconds to start.
Which is also not very fast...

I use my phone every day. But it's a pain to use the core apps because they are starting so slow.. The gallery app takes almost 2 minutes! 😱

Just want to assure folks this is something that we've been looking into and tracking, unfortunately the tool we're using can't be exposed externally - but we're working on it and it should be accessible soon.

I've at least included some screen shots to see some examples of what we're tracking (these are only examples, there's more applications being tracked than this)

We've exhausted what we feel are common framework improvements, the remaining effort is really application specific.
