Bug Description

With OTA-11 the Mobile Network 3G and H do not come back into working mode after MX4 comes back from turning off the screen.

Example:
I reboot the MX4 and when it powers up all is working I get WiFi and Mobile Network 3G working great.
I press the button to turn off the screen and leave it off for 2 or more minutes, when I turn it back on and unlock the device the Data network is not working.

I can make calls and SMS but MMS and Data has no connection, at this point i can toggle the Data switch in the mobile configuration or put the phone into airplane mode and back into active and it works until next time.

Thank You

You say that Wifi is on. Is it the Wifi that is not reconnecting?
When you toggle which network becomes active?

Hi,
I personally encounter a similar issue with my MX4 from the beginning (OTA 8 I think), but upgrade after upgrade it becomes more and more significant.
I didn't notice this for Wifi, but for mobile networks (not only 3G).
I also didn't pay attention to the sleeping time.
But after a long sleep, only SMS are available.
I lose the internet connection and I cannot call.
Switching the airplane mode off/on re enables the internet connection but I have to reboot to be able to have a phone call.
In previous version, it rather occurred when the wake up took place after a move (ie. I get a train to go working)
But now it becomes more and more frequent even if I stay in the same place (ie. When I use my phone on the morning).
What kind of information do you need to investigate ?
Eric

@eviweb, would be interesting to have:

/var/log/syslog
/home/phablet/.cache/upstart/*

and output of following commands (execute them while the problem is happening):

/usr/share/ofono/scripts/list-modems
/usr/share/ofono/scripts/list-contexts
nmcli c
nmcli d

@alfonsosanchezbeato,

here I am. Sorry for the delay but strangely, the problem took time to occur again since my last reboot.

Please find all the information you asked for in the attachment.

Thanks for your time,

Eric

Maybe, the following issue seems to be related to this one.

I received a pending SMS after having rebooted my phone this morning.

Hi,

the problems still remains after upgrade to OTA-12 (sorry for the delay, I'm busy...)
Mobile networks fail to reconnect after a long sleep, and switching airplane mode off/on solves this issue.
And the solution to re enable phone calls is still to reboot the phone as I don't find which service to restart.
More details :
- incoming and outgoing phone calls don't work
- for incoming calls, people are directly routed to the voice mailbox
- for outgoing calls, they stop quickly and you return to the phone keyboard
- during the phone attempt the volume, microphone, numpad buttons... of the phone keyboard don't work
- only receiving and sending SMS are possible
- Internet connection needs to switch the airplane mode off/on

The OTA-13 just have been published and I didn't have time to apply it for now.
I will take time to post a feedback after upgrading.

Eric

Confirmed on my Pro 5 with rc-proposed. I can never count on having a data connection on my Pro 5 (rc-proposed) when I need it. Even if I do get a mobile data connection, I can never count on it to last for long. I find myself constantly toggling airplane mode off and on, sometimes it helps, sometimes not. If anything, the connection problems are getting worse...

There are numerous bug reports about similar connection issues and most likely many of them are related. Maybe it is time to synchronize all these and try to figure out what is really going on. By spreading the connection issues over several different bug reports doesn't seem to put enough focus on the fact that using an Ubuntu Phone for connectivity (mobile in particular, but also wifi) has become a horrible experience (I am not kidding!). This kind of defeats the purpose of the whole project in my view.
