Bug Description

Binary package hint: kicker

Hi,

My KDE has two panels (not sure if it's the correct name, my system is in french), a main one, in the right edge of the screen, with all the buttons, the K menu, clock, etc, and a second one in the top edge with the taskbar and an applet that shows CPU and memory use. The desktop has several icons.

After an upgrade to Gutsy, the icons at the top of the desktop are partly hidden under the top panel.

If I move one of the icons, they all go back to the correct position, i.e. NOT under the panel.
But if I move the panel to the bottom of the screen, it will hide the icons that are there.

To be sure it isn't some weird KDE configuration problem, I created a new account, put some icons ant a new panel, and the problem was there.

Forgot to say that the problem isn't related to the fact that I have two panels. On the new user's account, I have only one panel and it hidse the icons, as you can see in the attached screenshot (I reduced my screen resolution to 640x480 to take it).

I can confirm this one. Icons on desktop have to be aligned to grid and panel auto-hiding must be off to reproduce it. After disabling icon alignment things work as expected - icons will "move" to make a space for panel.

Running Kubuntu 7.10.

Shouldn't be an issue in Intrepid/KDE4.1.
