Bug Description

Mysql passworw was other than null for root. I always set root pass to mysql as null at home computer.

From the terminal log, it seems you have previously installed MariaDB 10.0:

Aborting downgrade from (at least) 10.0 to 5.7.
If are sure you want to downgrade to 5.7, remove the file
/var/lib/mysql/debian-*.flag and try installing again.

You can remove the /var/lib/mysql/debian*.flag file and try again, but since MariaDB and MySQL 5.7 are not really compatible, I suggest making a backup of /var/lib/mysql first.
