Can't use Blender

Bug Description
I've tried this on both a Mac and on Ubuntu Studio. The problem is the same. It tells me that blender isn't installed or the wrong path is there. I've tried blender and blender.app on the Mac, and yes, the most up to date blender is installed an can run on it's own. I've tried both the usr path and blender on ubuntu. Neither one works.
