This problem only occurs with a liveDVD boot.

Please direct me to a download site for the iso image which runs the v4.6 kernel.

peterzay, to clarify:
1) You only see the error message while in the live environment (not in installed)?
2) Do you notice any actual functionality issues?

==> correct, only during boot of the liveDVD.
2) Do you notice any actual functionality issues?
No, but I am completely new to 16.04, so this may not be significant.
